Whipped feta dip is a simple appetizer that you will adore. Made with a handful of ingredients, this comes together in minutes and is perfect for a party.
We have a restaurant that we love to sneak off to for last minute date nights. We sit at the bar and order drinks and appetizers, and I always order their whipped feta dip. Don’t tell anyone, but I make a meal out of it.
After too many rounds of testing to count, I think I came up with a recipe that is even better than my favorite restaurant’s. It has the perfect consistency and most delicious tanginess from the feta and yogurt. It is amazing with veggies and pita!
How to Make Whipped Feta Dip
Here is a brief overview of how this creamy whipped feta dip recipe comes together. For the full recipe including all the measurements, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
- Blend the feta and yogurt. Combine the feta cheese and yogurt in a food processor with garlic, salt, pepper, and lemon zest. Blend well.
- Add olive oil. Continue blending until smooth.
- Serve and enjoy! Transfer the mixture to a bowl and top with an additional drizzle of oil and crushed red pepper flakes if desired. Enjoy!
Full Fat Ingredients
This is one of the few recipes on Simple Joy where I’m going to urge you to use full-fat ingredients. The recipe simply won’t have the consistency you want if you use low-fat yogurt and feta.
Zest From a Lemon
Lemon zest is an ingredient that elevates this creamy whipped feta dip by adding a bright, citrusy flavor. Unlike lemon juice, which adds acidity, the zest provides a concentrated lemon flavor without altering the dip’s texture or making it too liquidy.
To get zest from a lemon, start by washing the lemon. Then use a zester or grater to gently scrape the outer yellow peel, rotating the lemon as you go. Avoid the white pith underneath, as it can taste bitter.

What to Dip in Whipped Feta Dip
Here are a few ideas of what to serve alongside this creamy, flavorful dip.
- Fresh Vegetables: Crisp veggies like carrots, cucumber slices, cherry tomatoes, or red bell pepper strips.
- Pita Bread or Chips: Soft pita wedges or crunchy pita chips are classic choices.
- Crackers: Choose sturdy crackers to scoop up the dip without breaking.
Storing Leftovers
This feta cheese dip can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. I recommend storing the veggies and pita separately. Give the dip a good stir if it has been sitting.
