Welcome To Simple Joy!
Hello! Welcome to Simple Joy (recently rebranded!), I’m glad you are here. I’m Lisa, a self taught cook and Milwaukee based mom. Reading cookbooks, experimenting in the kitchen, and learning about different cooking have taught me so much about food and cooking. I get such great joy in sharing my love for food.
I grew up with a mom who often expressed her love through food. Some of my most treasured memories are of her cooking for us while I sat at the counter and talked to her. My mom inspired my philosophy of cooking for my family: Cooking can be a simple way that you can express your love for those most important to you . . . a simple joy.
On SimpleJoy.com you will find recipes that are easy to follow as well as lots of tips and tricks and information about the ingredients. Cooking amazing and delicious food doesn’t have to be difficult – it can even be enjoyable. I want to spark just a little bit of joy in cooking for you.
I hope you return again and again for easy go to dinner recipes that you don’t stress over – recipes you feel great feeding your family. I hope you’ll find recipes here that you enjoy making, love eating, and leave you with more time to spend with the people you love.
My FamilyI’m the mom of four amazing kids: Gavin, Elliot, Quinn, and Piper. Gavin, Quinn, and Piper are happy, amazing kids we love spending time with.
My husband, Nathan, is my partner in life and this blog. He is my rock in more ways than one and supports all of my crazy dreams.
We lost our second child, Elliot, when he was 8 days old. As you can imagine, the loss of a child is unbearable, and it rocked our worlds. We have fought, very hard, to maintain our marriage and a happy home for our three other kids. If you want to know more about Elliot and our story of loss, you can read it here. If you want to read more of my experience of grief, you can read this post.
