Our kids absolutely love hamburgers for dinner. I’m pretty sure it is because I have a recipe for amazing hamburger seasoning that makes burgers anything but boring. We eat burgers about once a week during our busy summers.

But now we (and you!) can have delicious burgers anytime with this great recipe for burgers in the air fryer. Mixing up the burgers takes just about five minutes, and with only five minutes of cook time, you have a fast easy dinner that can’t be beat!

Burger Seasoning

This Homemade Hamburger Seasoning is made with simple ingredients that you probably already have on hand and will last in an airtight container in your pantry for six months. It gives your air fryer hamburgers the best flavor! Skip the store-bought hamburger seasoning and make your own blend!

I give measurements in the recipe card at the bottom of the post to make enough burger seasoning for one pound of beef, or you can make a big batch to keep on hand for all of your grilling recipes.

Add this to your hamburger patties for the best hamburger seasoning! Make a big batch and have it on hand all grilling seasoning.

How Long to Cook Hamburgers in The Air Fryer

A key to the short cooking time of these air fryer hamburgers is to preheat your air fryer while you make the patties. Start with cooking your burgers for six to eight minutes, and then add time until they reach your desired doneness. Please note that the USDA recommends cooking hamburger until it reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit. I love using our instant read thermometer that can be left in the meat while it cooks for this recipe.

Tips and Tricks

  • If you want to make a cheeseburger, add a slice of your favorite cheese to the burger for the final minute of cooking so it can melt.
  • Toppings ideas: Cooked bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and your favorite burger condiment. BBQ Sauce, ketchup, mustard, or Garlic Aioli would all be delicious!
  • Butter and then toast your hamburger buns in the air fryer for just a minute or two before building your burger.

Make Air Fryer Turkey Burgers

If your family prefers turkey burgers, swap the ground beef for ground turkey! My hamburger seasoning is delicious with ground turkey. Keep in mind that ground turkey should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

FAQ

Can I cook frozen burgers in the air fryer?

Yes, add 5-10 extra minutes to the cooking time and use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.

Can I make more than 4 burgers?

The key is to keep the burgers in a single layer in the air fryer basket. So if you can fit more than four, great! If not, cook them in batches.

Storing and Reheating Leftover Burgers

Store any leftover burgers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat the burgers in the air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for three to five minutes, or until heated through.
