Would you adjust this recipe at all if using white sweet potatoes? They are less sweet than the orange variety; perhaps more brown sugar or some maple syrup? Thank you.
Lisa Longley says
Tina, I’ve never actually heard of a white sweet potato! Can you believe it?? So I would need to play around with this recipe to know for sure.
Tina says
They are so good. Harder to find but amazing. I hope you like them. Happy Thanksgiving (if you celebrate).

Kids and I loved the recipe! Easy and most important delicious!
Lisa Longley says
So glad to hear this, Jeanne!
Lori says
This was delicious!! I added 10 more minutes in the oven to get those potatoes more caramelized and omitted the cayenne. My kiddos and husband finished them all! By far the best! Thanks for sharing.
Lisa Longley says
So glad you liked them, Lori!

This may have just been user error, but my sweet potatoes were burned to the point of being inedible after 20 minutes. I was using pre-cubed potatoes from the store, so they were maybe a little smaller and peeled, but I was still pretty shocked. Based on what I was smelling, they probably started to burn after 10 minutes. I’m sure it’s still a good recipe (I totally should have checked on them), but it might be helpful to add a note to keep an eye on the oven.
Lisa Longley says
I’m so sorry this happened to you! I would guess that its the size of potatoes, like you think. Is it possible your oven runs hot?
Marge says
How can you make it easier to peel and dice the fresh sweet potatoes
Lisa Longley says
I wish I had a trick for this, but I don’t. Sorry!
Brenda says
I made these recently and they were delicious. I want to make them again for Christmas. If I use 6-7 potatoes should I triple the rest of ingredients? It just seems like so much
Lisa Longley says
I’m sorry I’m just seeing this, Brenda. I haven’t tested this with more potatoes. If you gave it a try, I’d love to hear how it went.
Carla says

Sooooo good! Great flavor from the sugar/spice/butter mixture but you still taste the sweet potato too. Also, super easy to make! So excited to try some of your other recipes!

I’m so glad you enjoyed them, Sammy! Thank you for taking the time to come back and let me know!
Jenny says
I made these for Thanksgiving last week and they were perfect and so delicious! I left out the cayenne and mixed everything in bowl to get it all uniformly coated rather than trying to toss it together on the tray. Everyone thought they were best sweet potatoes we’d ever had for Thanksgiving. Definitely a keeper! Thank you for the excellent recipe.
Lisa Longley says
I’m so glad you enjoyed them, Jenny!
