I doubled the recipe and omitted the cayenne pepper. I also cooked the sweet potatoes longer. They were caramelized and tender. Loved the recipe!

I make this recipe often and love it! I find mixing the sweet potatoes in a bowl with the butter & brown sugar mixture is a little bit easier. Then I spread the potatoes on the baking sheet.

Do you use the bland cinnamon or sweet (sugar) cinnamon
Lisa Longley says
I’m going to be honest with you, I’ve never even considered that some cinnamon is bland and some is sweet. I just buy ground cinnamon.

I am making the sweet potatoes with cranberries, Brussel sprouts, and walnuts I just wasn’t sure if I should bake the sweet potatoes first then cut them so your recipe helped thank you.

this looks good was wondering if the salt is needed. my husband has to watch salt and sugar.
Lisa Longley says
Salt is something that enhances a flavor of a dish, so I only add it where I personally feel it is necessary. That being said, if you are already following a low sodium diet, most of the time if you leave out the salt your taste buds have adjusted and you won’t miss it.
