Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken is an easy four ingredient slow cooker recipe. Turn it into sandwiches, eat it on salads, or turn it into a dip. You’ll love it.
In our house, there is nothing better than a fast and easy slow cooker dinner. We fall back on them all the time in our home; they make busy weeknights a breeze.
Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches come together with just four ingredients in the slow cooker. They are incredible, and so easy to make!
How to Make Buffalo Chicken in the Slow Cooker
Here is a brief overview of how this slow cooker Buffalo chicken recipe comes together. For the full recipe including all measurements, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
- Combine all ingredients. Add the chicken breasts, Buffalo sauce, ranch seasoning, and butter to the base of your slow cooker.
- Cook the chicken. Cook on low for three hours.
- Shred the chicken. Remove the cooked chicken from the crockpot and shred it. You can do this using two forks, but my favorite way is to add it to the bowl of my stand mixer with the paddle attachment. Return it to the slow cooker and enjoy!
My Favorite Slow Cooker
Homemade Buffalo Sauce
Making Buffalo sauce requires just 10 minutes, Frank’s red hot sauce, and a few other simple ingredients. I love making sauces at home because I can control exactly what is in them and the flavor. The flavor is perfect in this Buffalo chicken recipe and with wings.

How to Make Ranch Seasoning
Just like with the Buffalo sauce, I like to give you options to make ingredients from scratch when I can. Homemade ranch seasoning is a staple I keep in my pantry. You can use it to make a simple ranch dip for veggies, season french fries or vegetables, or use it in any recipe that calls for a packet of ranch seasoning.

How to Eat Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken
You can do so many different things with this chicken. Here are a few great Buffalo chicken recipes to try.
- Make a Buffalo chicken sandwich topped with some Ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing), or this Buffalo chicken version of a grilled cheese sandwich.
- Add Buffalo chicken with some lettuce, shredded cheese, onion, and tomato to a tortilla to make a Buffalo chicken wrap.
- Add it to a bed of greens or make this Buffalo Chicken Salad.
- Buffalo Chicken Pizza
- Serve in tortillas or taco shells to make Buffalo chicken tacos.
Make a Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Dip
You can turn this Buffalo chicken into a dip by adding eight ounces of cream cheese and 1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles after you shred the chicken. Cook on high for about 20 minutes to melt the cheese and heat it through. Enjoy with tortilla chips or crackers.
Storing and Reheating Leftovers
Store any leftover crockpot Buffalo chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat only the portion you plan to eat in the microwave or in a small skillet over low heat.
This recipe can also bee frozen. Store in a container with room for it to expand and freeze for up to three months. Allow the chicken to thaw in the refrigerator overnight before warming and serving. Always use your best discretion when storing and reheating leftovers.

Laz says
My crockpot doesn’t have a 3 hr. Low setting. It’s either 8 or 10 hrs at low. Do you mean 3 hrs. at high?
I’m really sorry, Laz. If you cook it on high for 3 hours, it will get very tried out.
