I absolutely love flatbread pizza. Restaurants do such a great job of making so many different flavors, and truly they are always delicious.

But they are crazy easy to make at home. This is a great base recipe. The combination of fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil is a classic for a reason. You will absolutely love this recipe.

How to Make Flatbread Pizza

Here is a brief overview of how this naan flatbread pizza comes together. For the full recipe including all measurements, scroll to the recipe at the bottom of the post.

  • Make the pizza. Place the naan on the parchment paper on a baking sheet. Top with the mozzarella and then the tomatoes.
  • Bake the pizza. Bake for 10 minutes or until the cheese is beginning to brown.
  • Garnish and enjoy. Top with the fresh basil and a little freshly ground black pepper. Cut and enjoy!

Naan Pizza Crust

Naan bread is a fantastic choice for easy flatbread pizza recipes because of its perfect balance of convenience and flavor. Its soft yet sturdy texture provides a great base that holds up well under toppings, while its slightly chewy interior and crisp edges create a delightful eating experience.

While I will shout my love for my homemade pizza dough recipe from the rooftops, naan is readily available and comes pre-cooked, which means you can skip the dough prep and have a delicious pizza ready in no time.

Fresh Mozzarella

Because the ingredients in this recipe are so simple, their quality is very important. Buy a ball of mozzarella cheese and slice it. It will melt beautifully and taste amazing on this pizza, creating a rich, creamy layer that perfectly complements the crispiness of the naan bread and juicy tomatoes.

If you have never worked with fresh mozzarella, it is different than regular mozzarella. The two are made differently and because of that it will melt differently than if you were to just slice mozzarella and place it on the pizza.

Other Flatbread Pizza Ideas

I have many great homemade pizza recipes that would also make delicious flatbreads! While any of your favorite pizza toppings can be added to a flatbread, here are a few ideas:

FAQ

Can you air fry a flatbread pizza?

I would say as long as the naan can fit in the basket of your air fryer, you could totally cook it that way. The air fryer would be a great way to reheat leftovers of this flatbread pizza.

Is naan gluten free?

No, it is made with flour.

Why don’t you add sauce?

While you could add sauce here, it really isn’t necessary. The flavor from the tomatoes, basil, and cheese together create the perfect combo.
