Krispy Kreme Pie! Yup. I made a whole pie out of Krispy Kreme Donuts. You’re welcome.
I could not be more excited about this post today!
Today we are celebrating the incredibly talented, Ashton Swank of Something Swanky! I first “met” Ashton back in 2012 when she hosted an amazing Online Blogging Conference. I am not exaggerating even a little when I say that it completely changed the way I blogged. In the six months after the conference my blog grew x10 and the friends that I made doing it still make up my closest blogging friends.
And I’m telling you all this because I feel like it so perfectly encompasses Ashton. She is so very talented, but so down to earth. So ready to help another blogger. Any blogger. Allllll the bloggers. I can’t tell you how many times I have emailed Ashton saying, “So . . . I have a question . . . ” and even though her email (like my own) is a black hole, she gets back to me with the answer.
Oh.
And she’s having a baby!
I was so busy gushing about her, I totally forgot to tell you that the whole reason for today is that Ashton’s having a baby boy!! (Make sure you scroll to the end of the post so you can check out all the delicious goodies that everyone made for her!)
So guess what I am bringing to Ashton’s shower? The most Ashton inspired recipe I could think of: Krispy Kreme Pie. An entire pie, made all chess/bomb style, entirely out of Krispy Kreme Donuts!
One of the very first dessert recipes that I came up with for the blog was 100% inspired by this recipe made by Ashton. A “bomb” pie. Essentially a chess pie made out of cookies. Or . . . THE. GREATEST. THING. EVER.
Since then, it’s really the only kind of pie that I have any interest in.
And since I know of Ashton’s love for Krispy Kreme Donuts . . . well, it just seemed like the right thing to do for a pregnant woman. If only she lived closer. I would totally rush one of these pies over to her, because it turned out so much better than I had ever dreamed.
My grocery store actually sells boxes of Krispy Kreme Donuts. #dangerous Anyway, once I decided to make a pie out of Krispy Kremes (#bestdecisionever), all I had to do was pick up the box . . . and then I was faced with an insurmountable decision. Original? Or Creme Filled? I was standing there, weighing all the options . . . the bonuses of going with original, the amazingness that is custard, when reality slapped me in the face and reminded me that I had three kids with me and I needed to make a decision.
I grabbed the custard filled chocolate topped ones.

Congratulations Ashton! You are going to be the most perfect mom for your little guy.
