Party food is some of my favorite to create. This fruit dip is absolutely perfect party food. While we love fresh fruit in our house on its own, adding this dip is such a special treat. The last time I made this, my youngest asked me how it was made so that next time she could just whip it up for herself!

Fruit Dip Ingredients

This easy fruit dip recipe comes together with just three simple ingredients. For the full recipe including all measurements, see the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Marshmallow fluff: Provides a sweet base for the dip with a flavor similar to marshmallows, but a lighter texture. You may also see it labeled as marshmallow creme. You can’t replace it with regular marshmallows.
  • Cream cheese: You will want it to be soft and at room temperature, but not melted, to make a nice creamy dip.
  • Vanilla extract: This boosts the final flavor of the dip but isn’t necessary to make it.

Marshmallow Fluff vs. Marshmallows

One of the two ingredients for this recipe is marshmallow fluff. If you’ve never had it, it is like marshmallows in creamy form. In the past when I’ve used this as an ingredient in recipes, I have gotten the question asking if melted marshmallows can replace it. Unfortunately, the answer is no. The two aren’t exactly the same and melted marshmallows won’t get the desired effect here. That being said, you can make homemade marshmallow fluff.

How to Serve

You can serve this delicious dip, sometimes called angle dip, with a variety of fresh fruits, depending on what is in season or available to you, and your preferences. Here are a few ideas!

  • Fresh strawberries
  • Pineapple chunks
  • Grapes
  • Green apple slices
  • Kiwi
  • Graham crackers, vanilla wafers, and animal crackers would be yummy for a non-fruit option.

How To Cut A Pineapple

Use it as Frosting

That’s right! This dip recipe could also double as a frosting. I have used this recipe as frosting for angel food cake before, and it is absolutely perfect. It isn’t thick enough that you would be able to pipe it, but it is perfect for spreading over a cake.

Storing Fruit Dip

Keep this fruit dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Store the fruit separately, of course. I do not recommend freezing this dip as it will alter the texture of the dip too much. Always use discretion with leftovers.
