How to Make Coffee Creamer
This is a brief overview of how to make this delicious recipe. For the full recipe with all of the ingredients and measurements, see the recipe card at the bottom of the post. Additionally, if you are looking for the other flavors, they are shown just below this section.
- Mix together the ingredients. Combine the half and half, milk, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla in a large measuring cup or a bowl.
- Whisk the ingredients together. Make sure the ingredients are well combined.
- Use right away. Or store in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Coffee Creamer Flavors
One of my favorite parts about this recipe is that you can make it in so many different flavors. I’ve done six simple flavors here: Vanilla, Chocolate, Cinnamon, Mint, Almond, and Caramel. But really the sky is the limit. There are so many things you can do with this base recipe.
You will notice that most of these recipes have a range when it comes to the flavor we are adding. I suggest adding the smaller end of the range, tasting it, and adding more to taste.
You can find the recipe to the vanilla coffee creamer recipe at the bottom of the post in the recipe card.
Chocolate Coffee Creamer
Chocolate Coffee Creamer is so easy to make and turns any cup of coffee into a mocha-style drink.
- 3/4 cup half and half
- 1 cup milk
- 14 ounces (by weight) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Whisk the cocoa powder into the sweetened condensed milk until it is well combined. This will keep it evenly suspended in the creamer.
- Add the sweetened condensed milk mixture to the rest of the ingredients, stirring well to combine.
Cinnamon Coffee Creamer
If you’ve never tried cinnamon in your coffee, it is a must! I love adding a pinch of it to my coffee grounds before brewing, but adding this creamer puts it over the top!
- 3/4 cup half and half
- 1 cup milk
- 14 ounces (by weight) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 – 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Whisk together the sweetened condensed milk and cinnamon. This will somewhat help keep the cinnamon suspended in the liquid, though you will still need to shake it before each use.
- Combine the remainder of the ingredients, stirring well to combine.
Mint Coffee Creamer
If you like mint, you will love this recipe. The subtle taste of mint in the creamer makes for a delicious morning treat.
- 3/4 cup half and half
- 1 cup milk
- 14 ounces (by weight) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 – 2 teaspoons mint extract
- 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Whisk together all of the ingredients until well combined.
Almond Coffee Creamer
I love the taste of almond extract! And it is the perfect flavor for coffee creamer.
- 3/4 cup half and half
- 1 cup milk
- 14 ounces (by weight) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 – 2 teaspoons almond extract
- 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Whisk together all of the ingredients until well combined.
Caramel Coffee Creamer
Adding caramel to your morning coffee is such a treat. In this recipe, we are making our own homemade caramel sauce and then whisking it in after it cools a bit. So delicious!
- 3/4 cup half and half
- 1 cup milk
- 14 ounces (by weight) sweetened condensed milk
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the butter, brown sugar, and two tablespoons of milk.
- Bring it to a simmer, stirring often, and allow it to thicken.
- Let it cool slightly, then whisk it into the sweetened condensed milk.
- Finally, whisk in the half and half and milk.
Half and Half
Half and half is an American product that is literally half heavy whipping cream and half whole milk. In the UK it is known as half cream. But it is easy to make at home by combining those two ingredients in equal measure.
You could replace the half and half in this recipe with heavy cream. Please note that this will make for a richer, higher fat content, creamer.
Storing
This recipe will keep in the refrigerator for up to one week in an airtight container or jar. There is a link to the jars featured in the photos below. These bottles hold about half of this recipe. I love making two flavors at once, a half batch of each. As with any recipe, use your best discretion when it comes to leftovers.
Freezing Creamer
This recipe can be frozen. It is best to consume it within one month of freezing. Keep in mind that the leftovers should not be thawed and then refrozen.
Cutting Down the Recipe
This recipe makes three cups of creamer. If that is too much for you to use in a week, you can cut the recipe in half (though sweetened condensed milk can only be purchased in one size), or you can make the whole batch and share some with a friend!

Dairy Free Homemade Coffee Creamer
This recipe can be made dairy-free, which is amazing news. You can swap out the half and half for a soy based, almond milk based, or coconut milk based half and half or heavy cream.
There are both coconut based and oat milk based sweetened condensed milk on the market. Either would work in this recipe.
Finally, you would replace the cup of milk with whatever dairy free milk you keep on hand.
Using Coffee Creamer
Of course, you can use this coffee creamer recipe in your regular cup of Morning Joe, but this would also be amazing in our Iced Coffee recipe. The combination of this creamer and our Iced Coffee is the perfect afternoon treat.
